What is Sylfirm X?

Sylfirm X is a radiofrequency (RF) microneedling device. Fine needles enter the skin and release bipolar radiofrequency energy at a set depth, heating the dermis to encourage new collagen while the surface stays largely intact.

What sets it apart is its two modes. A pulsed wave can be used gently on the layer of skin linked to pigmentation and redness, and a continuous wave is used for collagen remodelling, scarring and firmness.

How a session works

After cleansing, numbing cream can be applied. Your practitioner then works across the area in passes, adjusting the needle depth and energy for each zone, for example more gently around the eyes.

Afterwards the skin looks pink and may be slightly swollen. These effects typically settle within a few hours. The deeper collagen response continues over the following weeks, which is why a course works better than a single session.

Is it right for you?

It may suit you if

  • You have pigmentation, redness, scarring or early laxity
  • You have darker skin and want an option chosen with pigmentation risk in mind
  • You are happy to have a course and see gradual results

It may not be suitable if

  • You have significant excess or hooded skin: Sylfirm X does not remove skin and cannot replace surgery
  • You have an active infection or breakout in the area
  • You have taken isotretinoin in the last 4 to 6 months
  • You are pregnant or have a pacemaker

Bring a list of your medicines to the consultation. We may ask you to speak to your GP before treatment.

Risks and side effects

Sylfirm X uses needles and heat, so short-term effects are normal.

  • Redness and slight swelling, typically settling within a few hours
  • A tingling or warm sensation during treatment
  • Small needle marks for a short time
  • Rarely, infection, prolonged redness or a change in skin colour

Avoid direct sunlight, use gentle skincare products and apply sunscreen regularly while your skin recovers.

Individual results vary. Results depend on your skin, age, lifestyle, the number of sessions and how closely you follow aftercare advice.

Questions

Sylfirm X questions

Anything else? Ask us at your free consultation, or call 020 7531 6600.

Who is Sylfirm X suitable for?

It is used for men and women across skin types and colours. Because its needle depth can be adjusted, it suits the thin skin around the eyes as well as thicker areas such as the cheeks and body. We confirm suitability at your consultation.

Is Sylfirm X painful?

Most people cope with it well. We can numb the area with a cream first, which most people find makes it easier.

What will my skin look like afterwards?

Expect some redness and slight swelling. Both usually fade within a few hours. We will give you aftercare advice before you leave.

How many sessions does Sylfirm X take?

It depends on the concern. Redness often shows visible improvement after three sessions, and acne scarring usually needs a course of 3 to 4. We will give you a plan at your consultation.

Can Sylfirm X tighten loose skin?

It can help mild laxity, for example along the jawline or around the eyes, over a course of treatments. It cannot take away loose, excess skin, and it is no replacement for surgery.

Do I need a consultation first?

Yes. A consultation is required so we can assess your skin, discuss your goals and decide on the right settings and plan.
