Treatment matched to your skin

Different concerns need different wavelengths. Brown pigment, red blood vessels, acne bacteria and rough texture each respond to a different kind of energy, and skin tone changes what is appropriate. So we start by looking closely at your skin, using OPATRA Visio facial analysis to image texture, pigmentation, pores and sun damage.

Then we put a plan together, using one device or a mix of them, and tell you up front how many sessions to expect and what each costs.

Our laser and light devices

Aerolase Neo Elite: an Nd:YAG laser working at 1064 nm in very short 650-microsecond bursts. It is used for pigmentation and melasma, redness and rosacea, acne (the NeoClear protocol) and collagen stimulation (NeoSkin), and it is the device the clinic chooses for darker skin tones.

Aerolase Era Elite: an Er:YAG laser at 2940 nm that resurfaces the skin, taking off a fine outer layer to refine texture, pores and sun damage. Combined with the Neo Elite in one session, it forms the Reverse protocol.

Sciton BBL HEROic: broadband light (not a laser) for sun spots, freckles, redness and small vessels (BBL Corrective), maintenance of skin quality (Forever Young) and acne (Forever Clear). It is generally best suited to lighter skin.

By concern

Choose by concern

Typical plans for each concern. Your consultation decides the right one for your skin.

BBL Corrective for lighter skin; Aerolase Neo Elite for darker skin

Spots usually darken first, then fade over about 4 weeks.

Melasma

Aerolase Neo Elite, as part of a wider plan

Typically 2 to 3 treatments; results from 3 to 4 weeks in.

Redness and rosacea

Aerolase Neo Elite or BBL Corrective

Typically 2 to 3 treatments.

Acne and breakouts

Aerolase NeoClear or BBL Forever Clear

NeoClear is usually 4 to 6 sessions.

Texture, pores and fine lines

Era Elite resurfacing, Reverse, NeoSkin or BBL Forever Young

NeoSkin is usually 4 to 6 sessions.

Under-eye pigmentation

Aerolase Neo Elite under-eye laser

Often combined with polynucleotides.

Is it right for you?

It may suit you if

  • You have pigmentation, redness, breakouts or texture you would like to improve
  • You can protect your skin from the sun during your course
  • You want a plan based on an assessment rather than a one-size facial

It may not be suitable if

  • You have taken isotretinoin in the last 4 to 6 months (for resurfacing and significant procedures)
  • You have a tan or recent sun exposure on the area
  • You are pregnant
  • You have an undiagnosed mole or lesion in the area (we will ask a doctor to check it first)

Some pigmentation, such as melasma, can come back, so we also advise on skincare and sun protection.

Risks and side effects

All laser and light treatments carry some risk.

  • Redness and mild swelling
  • Temporary darkening of pigment spots before they fade
  • Crusting, particularly after resurfacing
  • Changes in skin colour (lighter or darker patches)
  • Very rarely, burns

Wear a broad-spectrum SPF 50+ every day, keep out of strong sun for two weeks or more after BBL, and pause retinol and other strong actives for two days.

Individual results vary. Results depend on your skin, age, lifestyle, the number of sessions and how closely you follow aftercare advice.

Questions

Laser Skin Care questions

Anything else? Ask us at your free consultation, or call 020 7531 6600.

What is a laser facial?

It is a laser or light treatment for the face, aimed at a specific concern such as pigmentation, redness or texture. Unlike a standard facial, the device and settings are chosen for your skin at an assessment.

Is BBL a laser?

No. BBL HEROic delivers broadband light, which belongs to the intense pulsed light (IPL) family. The Aerolase Neo Elite and Era Elite are lasers. We use whichever suits your concern and skin tone.

Can you treat darker skin?

Yes, with care. Both Aerolase lasers, the Neo Elite and the Era Elite, are used across skin tones, including skin types IV to VI, while BBL is generally better suited to lighter skin. We assess your skin before recommending anything.

Is there any downtime?

It depends on the treatment. After most Aerolase sessions you may be red for a few hours. Resurfacing with the Era Elite takes longer to settle. We tell you what to expect before you book.

How many treatments will my skin need?

It depends on your concern: melasma and redness often need 2 to 3 treatments, acne 4 to 6. Some people then have maintenance sessions a few months apart.

Will pigmentation come back?

Some pigmentation, especially melasma, can return with sun exposure or hormones. Daily sunscreen and the right skincare help maintain results, and we will advise you on both.
