What is a blood plasma treatment?

Plasma is the liquid part of your blood. Concentrated, it is rich in the growth factors your body releases when it repairs a cut or graze. Placed into the skin, those signals encourage the cells that make collagen and elastin to get to work.

Because it comes from you, there is nothing synthetic and no donor product. It does not add volume like a filler. Instead it aims to improve the quality of the skin: tone, texture and that well-rested look.

How the treatment works

We take a small blood sample and spin it in a centrifuge to separate and concentrate the plasma. We offer three levels of preparation: Neogenesis, Magellan and Angel by Arthrex. The higher levels use fully automated systems that produce a stronger concentrate, and we will explain which suits your skin and budget.

The concentrate is then placed into the skin with an automated injector for even, fine coverage. First-timers usually have three sessions over three months, and it can be paired with Filorga NCTF mesotherapy or HydraFacial.

Is it right for you?

It may suit you if

  • You prefer a natural treatment made from your own blood
  • You want fresher-looking skin without changing your features
  • You are happy with a course and gradual results

It may not be suitable if

  • You smoke, as it slows healing and weakens the result
  • You have a blood disorder or take blood-thinning medication
  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • You have an active skin infection in the area

If you have a medical condition or take regular medication, tell us at your consultation. We may ask you to speak to your GP first.

Risks and side effects

The concentrate is made from your own blood, so allergy is very unlikely, but the blood test and injections carry the usual small risks.

  • Bruising and swelling in the treated areas for a few days
  • A bruise where blood was taken
  • Tenderness, usually eased with paracetamol
  • Rarely, infection

Avoid ice and heat packs afterwards, as they can reduce the effect. We explain the risks that apply to you at your consultation, and who to contact if anything worries you.

Individual results vary. Results depend on your skin, age, lifestyle, the number of sessions and how closely you follow aftercare advice.

Blood Plasma Treatment questions

Anything else? Ask us at your free consultation, or call 020 7531 6600.

What is the difference between the three levels?

Each level uses a different system to prepare your plasma. Neogenesis is our entry level. Magellan and Angel by Arthrex are automated systems that produce a stronger concentrate. We will recommend one at your consultation.

How many sessions will I need?

For a first course we recommend three sessions over three months. After that, occasional top-ups help keep the result.

Will I need time off work?

Many people take a couple of days off, as some bruising and swelling is common. Paracetamol usually eases any tenderness, and arnica can help with bruising.

How is this different from ExoSmart?

Both start with a small sample of your blood. ExoSmart goes a step further and filters out the exosomes into a concentrated serum.

How much does it cost?

From £295 per session, depending on the level. Your consultation is free, and you will know the full price of your plan before you book treatment.
